This is the first real song I ever wrote. In hind site its very elementary and there are sooo many things I would do different. But it was a collaboration with long time friend Adam fyler so it lives very close to my heart. I had written the riff in Boise City Oklahoma when I was around 18 years old. I had some cheesy lyrics about a young girl dying in a car wreck. I never got comfortable with the lame lyrics so I handed the job to Adam a few years later in his dorm room. He thumbed through a old notebook on the floor and found a poem called Locked away. He recorded a rough melody using the words in one take. It was money, I loved it and never changed it… If it’s not broken don’t fix it. This was another video that fell victim to testing. Just random footage that I had laying around. I was really afraid of the camera in those day’s so I never shot anything new. I never really felt like a film maker.
The car scenes were nothing more a few friends and I on our way to a new years eve party in Chapel Hill. The Highway shots were just stretches of I-40 through Arkansas. The final shot was the cemetery gates in New Bern, NC. We were there visiting Anna’s grandmother.
